Hi, my name is Daniel Hellweg and I am currently working at the Freiburg College of Art, Design and Popular Music, Freiburg (Germany) as head of the GameLab and CEO of the internal media design agency. Alongside my work there I am also working as a freelancer for various media design agencies. My personal focus lies on 3D visualization, virtual reality research projects and concept development. 2015-2016: Research-oriented M.A. design project "Haptic in Virtual Reality": focused on studying how to integrate haptic stimuli into virtual 3D-worlds. Continuing research after graduation.
Since May 2013: CEO and founder of - Die Agentur - a student based design agency for multimedia projects and graphic design.
Developed a digital stage setting for the musical "Game Over?" by Veronika te Reh and Wolfgang König.
Established, managed and gave tuition lessons at the game design branch of hKDM, University of Arts and Applied Sciences, Freiburg, Germany.
Created a 3D visualization of the 1920s entrance hall of City Freiburg's Theatre. Reconstructed the model from three old photographs and simple floor plan.
Developed and produced the event-trailer for the 'Kunstrasen' championship of international design schools. Planned shots, edited video, helped organize the event.
Planned and implemented a video channel featuring game reviews of design aspects and aesthetics. Planned concept, edited episodes, wrote reviews and composed the outro-music.
Weekly displayed and analyzed current media developments, short films, games and other interactive media. Researching material, attending art exhibitions, writing reviews. Became a part of the GameLab Freiburg later on.
Developing 2D and 3D concept graphics for a game design project for a computer science class of the University of Freiburg. Planned and directed concept for introduction sequence.
Studied emotional perception of abstract facial visualizations. Created graphics, coordinated research, analyzed results.
Since 2013: E-learning Games with AS3, XML, Content Studio, Adobe Captivate, Storyline; programming as well interface design & QA. Currently working on a freelance basis.
Since 2011: 3D renderings and animated concept videos for internal project plans, presentation design, managing web content. Currently working on a freelance basis as media conceptionist.
2013-2015: Co-chair of the hKDM Freiburg Game Design study program. Taught Game Analysis, Dynamic Storytelling and Game History.
April-August 2012: Worked on the game research oriented project "Urban Legend" by "GameCast TV": Concept planning, 3D asset modeling + texturing, quality assurance.
April-August 2012: Worked on the game "Bientôt l'été": 3D asset modeling + texturing, testing, German translation, quality assurance.
2011-2014: Hosted a Weekly 'New Media Discussion Forum' discussing games, short films and design at hDKM Freiburg. Tasks: Curation, presentations, reviews, public realations.
April-August 2011: Taught a three hour class for 3D basics and animation with Cinema 4D at hKDM Freiburg on a weekly basis.
2007-2008: Participated in several research projects focusing on cognitive processing.
Spring 2005: Recording, sound editing, sound modulation, cutting, digital music production, administrative tasks.
2014-2016: University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Masterstudio/Integrative Design. Graduated in January 2016: M.A. in Design, FHNW.
