Hi, my name is Daniel Hellweg and I am currently working at the Freiburg College of Art, Design and Popular Music, Freiburg (Germany) as head of the GameLab and CEO of the internal media design agency. Alongside my work as a freelancer I am currently working towards my masters degree at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz in Basel, Switzerland. Since May 2013: CEO and founder of - Die Agentur - a student based design agency for multimedia projects and graphic design.
Developed a digital stage setting for the musical "Game Over?" by Veronika te Reh and Wolfgang König.
Established, managed and gave tuition lessons at the game design branch of hKDM, University of Arts and Applied Sciences, Freiburg, Germany.
Created a 3D visualization of the 1920s entrance hall of City Freiburg's Theatre. Reconstructed the model from three old photographs and simple floor plan.
Developed and produced the event-trailer for the 'Kunstrasen' championship of international design schools. Planned shots, edited video, helped organize the event.
Planned and implemented a video channel featuring game reviews of design aspects and aesthetics. Planned concept, edited episodes, wrote reviews and composed the outro-music.
Weekly displayed and analyzed current media developments, short films, games and other interactive media. Researching material, attending art exhibitions, writing reviews. Became a part of the GameLab Freiburg later on.
Developing 2D and 3D concept graphics for a game design project for a computer science class of the University of Freiburg. Planned and directed concept for introduction sequence.
Studied emotional perception of abstract facial visualizations. Created graphics, coordinated research, analyzed results.
Since 2013: Working in e-learning games production, scpecialized in ActionScript and XML programming as well designing interface and background elements. Currently working on a freelance basis as media conceptionist.
Since 2011: Creating 3D concepts for internal project plans, designing presentations and managing web content. Currently working on freelance basis as media conceptionist.
2013-2015: Co-chair of the hKDM Freiburg Game Design study program. Taught Game Analysis, Dynamic Storytelling and Game History.
April-August 2012: Worked on "Urban Legend": Concept planning, 3D asset modeling + texturing, testing.
April-August 2012: Worked on "Bientôt l'été": 3D asset modeling + texturing, testing, German translation.
2011-2014: Weekly hosting a 'New Media Discussion Forum' presenting games, short films and design at the Freiburg College of Graphic Design and Fine Arts. Creating presentations and writing reviews.
April-August 2011: Weekly taught a three hour class for 3D basics and animation with Cinema 4D at the Freiburg College of Graphic Design and Fine Arts.
2007-2008: Participated in several research projects focusing on cognitive processing.
April-May 2005: Internship - recording, sound editing, cutting, administrative tasks.
